Lots going on in the world of Spurs transfer gossip.
Gio Dos Santos has told us that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Tottenham. He told Spurs official site:
“I think the coach knows I’m a good player and I want to do well for Tottenham. I came here to play, I love the fans and they’ve always supported me and I have everything here.”
This is great news, he’s obviously got something and Redknapp seems to be managing him well. Maybe he needed knocking down a few pegs last season after coming in from Barcelona?
Roman Pavlyuchenko however looks like he’s off back to Russia with Zenit sniffing around and a bid of £12m reportedly in the offing. He’s just at the wrong stage of his career for a battle of the magnitude of that facing him if he wants to get into the Spurs team. Pity, but that’s life.
Sport.co.uk yesterday revealed that Sulley Muntari’s agent is in talks with Spurs and Inter about the Ghanaian moving to The Lane.
I can’t believe the negativity around about this guy coming to Spurs. Yes he’s not wanted by Inter but that doesn’t make him automatically pap. He was top notch at Portsmouth and has been brilliant at times for Inter too. He had a spat with Mourinho about Ramadan fasting earlier in the season and has since been used sporadically. His dodgy situation at Inter smacks of a personal problem between him and Jose, not a football one. Also, he’s not a left winger as many have been saying he is! He can play there but his main position is central midfield. Muntari would act as a partner for Palacios or a replacement if Wilson gets injured. He’d also provide some proper competition for Jermain Jenas – if Mr Marmite is still at the club.
If you didn’t catch it yesterday, here’s a great video of Muntari showing off his tackling, shooting and passing.
When Muntari was being linked with Spurs over the summer, it was in a swap deal for Jenas. We all know about Mourinho’s respect for Jermain. Could this be what’s on the cards?

A bid of 12 quid for Pav? Perhaps they could throw in a bottle of Vodka!
Woops! Cheers Shannon
The fact that muntari gets booed by inter fans says it all. DONT sign him harry, he’ll be another zokora
The Inter fans jeer most black footballers. They ain’t too keen on Vieira either. The fact that they actually boo Muntari is news to me. But hardly the data one should be using to assess a player’s quality. This gut can play a helluvan important roll as a midfield battler that thus far ONLY BPalacios offers us at Spurs. If he’s injured, we’re weak and lack a single ball-winner in midfield. That’s what Muntari’s best at and was an excellent player for Pompey. Zokora had never played in England when we signed him, so the comparison is a pretty stupid one.
Base your opinions on his football, not what other ignorant supporters think! Look at what the idiots are our club were saying about and chanting about Gomes 9 months ago – a bloody disgrace imo. This guy would be a superb acquisition for Spurs imo.
I keep hearing about muntari being a DM but I’m pretty sure he’s a left winger.
There are some idiots out there that pretend to be football fans by pulling on our lilywhite shirt.
Muntari is an awesome player – end of.
He would be awesome in the middle with SGT Wilson, great cover for Wilson when we want a more creative midfield and great cover on the left (should we ever need it).
…f@*king idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ps. He *is* a defensive midfielder who has a great left foot so can also play on the left if needs be but it is *not* his primary position.
PPs. Does anyone ever actually watch football?!?!?!?
Agree with above statment,Muntari has already proved himself to be an excellent footballer in his time at Pompey, add to this the experiance he has gained under a very able coach in Mourinho, plus the quality we have at Spurs which i’m sure will benifit his game all the more, looks to me like we could be on to a winner here.
A question to all, what is your opinion on Danny at Zenit ST Petersburg?
And would you welcome a deal which included said player, for Pav?
Take it from me, I’m an Inter fan and a Spurs fan (YES, it’s possible to suport 2 teams) I’ve seen as good as EVERY spurs game and Inter game for years now.. Muntari was bood for having ONE bad day against Udinese, Most of the time he’s done a great job for Inter. As a ballwinner I would say he is better that Willson even. A partner ship between These to could be one of the strongest center midfields in England. The reason he might want out of Inter is that he is not 1st choice in the current lineup, and Inter are on the surge for more creativity in midfield on top of Cambiasso, Motta, Sneijder, Zanetti and Stancovic. Inter play a diamant in midfield with Cambiasso supporting the back 4. There simply isn’t a good position for Muntari. With Spurs’ 4-4-2 he would fit perfectly (like he did with Pompey) . Muntari for SPURS is a FANTASTIC deal. Coys!!!
Muntari has not only proved he can play in the Prem (as stated above); he has also shown that himself and ‘Arry are highly compatible in a player-boss relationship – which, I imagine, is one of the primary factors in his apparent desire to come to a non-Champs league club. it is a smple fact of life (all walks of life, not just football), that some people perform better under the instruction/direction of some and not of others. in this case, Muntari obviously played exceptionally under ‘Arry and just doesn’t gel with Mourinho. That certainly doesn’t make him a bad player.
He is a definitively a central midfielder who can play on the left – this is not a debate it is a factual correction for those who believe he is a left-winger.
Sad to see Pav go, but at the end of the day, he needs to be playing, but ‘Arry’s changes in attack have worked.
Keep Gio – main problem IMHO is that he was shoved straight in at the deep end in a team that wasn’t performing, when he should have been graduallyeased in – and preferrably in a team that was performing.
JJ is quality.
I agree with LotharKlinnsman. Muntari will be a hell of a signing for us. His BIG problem, apart from the spat with JM, is that he seems to be played out on the left at Inter. He’s a central Midfielder who very good in the tackling department and enjoys the scrap that you only get from playing there. My big worry is that THudd hasn’t let us down this season and needs to be played but if Sully comes and JJ leaves, I’ll be over the moon!!!
swap Jenas for Muntari. he’ll cover for wilson.Hudd and crank in competition for other spot.
With sideways backwards none tackling bad passing awol Jenas on the move i really hope he is , Muntari would be a cracker to play alongside Wilson under no circumstances is he a left winger , Wilson Huddlestone Muntari in midfield who is going to beat us !!!!!!!
Where was JJ against Bolton. We need some muscle aginst teams like that.
Hmmm…midfield diamond, Hudd at the base in the ‘quaterback’ role, Palacios and Muntari as the centre two, and Modric at the tip…sounds good!
JohnnyB: Lennon & Kranjcar?
That’s why Chelsea are doing so well, the power they have in midfield allows their flair players the licence to express themselves, once they have flexed their muscle on the game, but the bonus Muntari will give is that he can also flick a trick as well as boss a game.
can any tell me is he
1) Going to the African Nations in January
2) How old is he.
3 If he is Muslim when is his next religious fasting and for how long.
Catcher, don’t hold me to these answers but I think Ramadan if on a lunar calendar moves slightly each year, but it lasts for about four weeks,
I Also believe Sully to be around twenty five, and as for whether he will go to the African Nations next year I would expect so,
All of which I am perfectly OK with,
mjbarrow,I recognize your concerns over how exactly we could adapt two powerful midfielders into our team selection, but I believe we need to be able to adapt to each game we face, therefore I would rather have Muntari and face this dilemma, than not have him and face a different problem when were being over run in a game.
listen lads, hate to break up the muntari love in but he’s not all he’s being cracked up to be here. i live in portsmouth and had to put up with pompey fans going on about how much better he was than anyone in spurs midfield for the whole time he was there. but i went to 5 pompey games that season and he was rubbish in all of them. lassana diarra was the star of that pairing and it was him that made muntari look good, i’d look good playing with diarra! muntari looked quite lazy when i saw him live. he’d put in a few good tackles and he had a good shot, but if you think jenas is bad with the sideways passing and disappearing acts, you aint seen nothing. if he comes, this time next year you’ll all be moaning about him, trust me.
I would swap JJ for Scully from the X files, never mind sully. He is a mediocre excuse for a midfielder, championship level at best.
“The fact that muntari gets booed by inter fans says it all. DONT sign him harry, he’ll be another zokora”
Try to actually watch a few games!
If anyone still doesn’t trust Harry in the transfer market then they’re even more blinkered. I remember similar cries when he tried to get Bellamy at the club. Needless to say his performances at Man City will have most of those same people demanding we sign him in the next window.
In Harry we trust – COYS!
is this not meant to be a site where everyone can have their views,so as spurs fans lets be open to discussions and not say things like some of us are not good enough to wear the shirt or are f???ing idiots ok mjbarrow. As for myself I did raise my concerns about muntari as catcher says about the nations cup and his fasting which might be a problem for us just like chelsea missed out on the title when the likes of Drogba were on tour, which made me happy but thats my point.
Muntari will be great along side Wilson, with Modric on the left, Lennon on the right… and we have Gio/kranc to fill in on either flank, with a fully fit squad (woody, king, bassong, daws, bale, gio, defoe etc)… we really could then consider (and I only mean consider) reaching the top four… The problem with all the talk about top four is, that you have to perform over a season better than one of the established top four teams, if we be honest, manu and chelsea are clear, but arse and liver-poo are not so far ahead that they couldn’t be caught and held with a couple good transfers in jan. (muntari would be one of them, I hope)… also theres man citeh to think about, we are not there yet guys, but a couple good signings, and who knows…. also I think the Harry style of great man management is working wonders, can see the results in Lennon, and now gio is looking like he wants to stay and fight for his right to be a lilly white, could just be the trick to keeping hold of modders in the near future to. In Harry we trust!
Take a look at the highlights of the Croatia v Qatar game on NewsNow allsources, another goal for Corky, and Kranjcar(no 19)helps set up a couple and shows good vision with some nice flicks.
NOTE TO ADMINISTRATOR:You’ve just got to get the you-tube clip called Niko Kranjcar-Showboat on your site for everyone to see, it’s great, thers a clever bit of trickery where he turns Berbatov and Zokora inside out.
Cheers Craig, both the vids you mention are now up…
Muntari is a very good ball winner like wilson and will be an asset to spurs…what’s important is Arry knows him well during his portsmouth days and will be foolish if we don’t sign him.
If it is a swap deal for JJ bring it on. Anything to get rid of “box to box, hard grafting, scores some goals, gives 100%,unlucky with injuries and has potential to improve” bloody rotten Jenas.
