Martin Petrov scoring the winner for Man City against Barcelona in a recent friendly.
The Guardian are reporting that Martin Petrov is in London for talks about a move to Spurs as part of a deal taking David Bentley to Man City. The total value of the Bentley to City transfer is £10 million say The Times.
It is also being widely reported that the deal for Niko Kranjcar is likely to be worth as little as £3m with the Croatian in the last year of his contract and not planning on signing an a new one with Portsmouth.

Why on earth do City want to sell Petrov ? He’s one of the quickest wingers in the Premiership, far far better than Bentley who’s so up his own arse his football has gone to pot. This IS a bad deal, and one that City will rue, Petrov will come back and take us to pieces, just like players do when they return to make a point.
if true then will welcome Petrov with open arms, and wish Bentley the best…..only hope he find a home within walking distance of the training ground….lol…..

Paul, I agree, this would be a stupid move IMHO. If it is true, Hughes must know something I don’t. I also agree with you on Bentley. I watched a THFC game last season where Bentley and Bale spent more time during the game, making sure their hair was in place than on playing good footie and making sure their team had a decent chance to win. This was right in the middle of Spurs free fall to the bottom of the table (under Ramos, LOL). After that, I hoped that City would never have anything to do with either Bentley or Bale. Hey Sparky, Keep Petrov if you can!!!!

zokora was sold for nearly the same as crouch to buy…most of the squad was bought b4 redknapp was at the club…..

Petrovic – How can you say he is dependent on spending huge amounts of money when he has spent a very low amount in comparison to other clubs around our level, especially in comparison to man city, who i assume you support, and most of the money he has spent he has got back in sales.

Petrov is a fantastic player as is Kranjcar and James, and if dunne hasn’t been sold yet we should snap him up too if we get 10mil for Bentley we’ve then can offer 2mil for petrov, 3mil for kranjcar, 2mil for james and 6mil for dunne if you add on the Boatang to portsmouth 4mil and we’ve got 4 fantastic players very cheap… Bentley has upped his game or spurs and has been playing outstanding! Willl be a shame to see him go but we need the money.

If we sell Petrov, I hope Hughes gets fired in the next coming months. Petrov is an amazing player and just needs some playing time, bad move by Hughes, don’t like Bentley one bit
It’s amusing that 3years back Petrov was trying to persuade Berbatov to come to Citeh, as Tottenham was not a big enough club for him ..Now Berbatov is telling Petov to go to Tottenham, as Spurs are a bigger club than Citeh..

By the sounds of things, and if the numbers reported are accurate, Redknapp has funded all of his purchases with sales and we remain one of the few squads that does not overpay on the wages, so I think Spurs will be ok. Petrov gives us another option for free kicks and corners which is vital if Pav and Crouch are to be properly used. Lennon on the right and Petrov on the left will give us the width we’ve been seeking for so long. What better example could Rose ask for. Kranjcar is a class player who will serve as cover for Modic when he returns and he is able to play left, right or centre. We still need cover for Palacios and another CB at least until January. If King’s groin injury is long lasting, we’re down to Bassong. Corluka, Hutton, Huddlestone just aren’t good enough as cover. We need to find another Bassong ASAP as King and Woodgate will all be somewhat crocked for periods every year. COYS. Two weeks to get healthy before ManU and Chelsea.
