Two Superstars, A Russian Tragedy And 'Arry's Had Enough

Another day in Tottenham land and the main news items of the moment surround two aging superstars, Roman Pavlyuchenko and a probe into magic Harry’s tax affairs.

The persistent murmurs linking David Beckham and Patrick Vieira with January moves to The Lane look like they will finally come to an end. Becks it seems is off to Milan even though Harry Redknapp has been ‘incredible’ to him. And Vieira has broken the hearts of almost no Spurs fans by deciding to head back to the Finsbury Park Globe Trotters.

Who cares? We should, a bit. Both still have much to offer and would have brought experience of actually winning things to the Spurs squad. Do we have anyone in the squad with much more than a league cup medal to their name? Not really. Gomes and Cudicini I think are our most decorated servants. Peter Crouch won an FA Cup with Liverpool and played in a Champions League final. Most of the players in the squad are capable of becoming ‘winners’ but maybe they need someone playing with them who can show them how it’s done?

Another Spurs player with a trophy win on his CV is Roman Pavlyuchenko but it seems he’s taking his Russian Cup winners medal with him to some place where he has a chance of actually playing. Pav and Redknapp have both gone on record this week with admissions that our Russian is likely to be offski in January.

I wouldn’t play Pav ahead of Keane, Defoe or Crouch but he’s obviously a decent player. A real shame. I’m secretly hoping for a short term injury to Crouch so that we can see a bit of Pavlyuchenko in action now that he’s settled. Alas, I think we’ve seen the last of him in a Spurs shirt.

And finally…

Kudos to Harry Hotspur who broke the story about the fresh police/tax probe into Harry Redknapp’s financial affairs 3 days before the national newspapers got hold of it yesterday and today. Redknapp is now hoping that this gets sorted as he’s had enough of it all. He said:

“I’ve paid £10million in income tax in the past 10 years and this is what it’s come down to.

“It’s in dispute whether the money is owed anyway and I’ve been totally up front with everyone about this. I’m sick of it.”

“We have done nothing but help what was a police inquiry now it seems to have moved to the revenue,” he told Sky Sports News.

“It’s been two years of our life It’s been two years this has gone on and we just want it to be brought to a conclusion and we just want to completely clear our names once and for all.

“It’s got to as far as we are concerned there is nothing that we can be held responsible for so therefore it has to be brought to an end it just cant ruin peoples lives for much longer.”

Leave our Harry alone says me.

I understand the theory that getting players in who have acquired the ‘winning habit’ would be a good idea. Despite my quibblings Becks would probably be a goosd move. I think Viera’s legs have finally caught up with his legs, and couldn’t really see him getting into our midfield unless Wilson is injured or suspended – and if Sandro/Muntari arrive in Jan, as is widly rumoured, what chance then? Besides, Mourinho isn’t a fool. Besides, okay, look, he’s a Gooner ArseScum ***M***MOPIJ)*NMK******NOOILK*********, okay – I’ve said it!

As for Pav, I really do feel sorry for him, and think he could really thrive in the Prem if given a chance. Unfortunately, as with Bentely (to name one) and the rest, ‘Arry’s changes have worked and there really is just no arguing with taht, is there!

‘Arry will just have to get down Clapham way with his spiv hat on and ‘do a deal’ on some dodgy Rolex!

ahahahahaha you dirty spuds. vieira would be the best player ever to have played for spurs if he’d been dumb enough to go. once a gooner, always a gooner, just like sol.

  • spursman79

erm…… sol was a spurs fan and actually played for spurs first if i remember, wenger just promised to look after his brother if you know what i mean, luck will run out for gooners soon enough and we can all sit back and laugh when you are in financial ruin cause of no champions league money, even if we don’t beat you to 4th man city will!! how harsh is it that a couple of seasons ago gooners where looking to win the league and now they are just trying to hold on to fourth, makes me laugh tho hahahahahahahahahaha

I don’t give a damn about arsenal anymore. I’d accept Vieira in a heart beat. Who would you rather have… him or Jenas? Yeah if Muntari and or sandro come in, they might be good. But Vieira in the team right now with palacios would be great instantly. even just having him around. Has he actually gone to arse or can we still get him?

  • Yidarmy

oh and who cares about pav?

  • RobbieK

Viera is past it for the top end of the Prem. While buying in players with a winning mentality can work brilliantly (eg. Davids) if they are less capable than your current players then they won’t improve you. Beckham would be a decent short-term signing to play central midfield, not wide right.

  • the obvious attempted wind up from the Gooner is pathetic, I couldn’t give a f**k about Sol, everyone in the football world knows this mans lack of integrity. I would say no to Viera simply because he is past it and especially if we do cash in on Bentley, Pav and Hutton in January an get Muntari or Sandro. Becks may be able to do a job here but he will not play for us as our international profile probably doesnt suit him.

  • What going on at totte every one is going to court defoe for speeding david for drinking while speeding ledley drinking and fighting pav speeding of to russia Harry speeding from the tax man .spurs slow has fuck at bolton. We could be tpo at christmas and by january have our striker in jail with our manager our best players gone and all us fans fuking laugh at again.Well hi aint waiting iam going to GREEN ARMY. the only thing is once a spurs allways a spurs oh well just have to get laughed at .COYS

  • How about a song for ‘Arry – to the tune of Pink Floyd’s We don’t need no Education……..
We don’t need no tax evasion, We don’t need no financial control, No dark sarcasm in the dressing room, Taxman, leave our boss alone, Oi Taxman, leave our boss alone!…….. Sh1t isn’t it. why do i bother

  • [...] reported here yesterday, Arsenal looked to have sewn up a deal for for the Frenchman, thus ending any possibility [...]

Sad about Pav, think he is our most all round striker, would rather see Keane go (again)

hope if Pav does leave it is to Fulham so he can show what he is truly capable of in the prem.
