What can you say?
liverpool drawing at stoke, man c facing an in form everton, hull at home, you could not have written it better, earlier this week old kranc & i think bassong was telling the world how good we are, 1 point against wolves stoke & hull is simply unacceptable, it time to stop the talking & start learning how beat teams like hull, finally i do not want to pick him out because yesterday everbody was guilty of poor finishing but last minute in game our 6foot 7 10 million striker has a free header am i the only one who thinks he should be headering the ball to the opposite side to where the goalkeeper is?, pav would have scored.
Spot on Foggy why is pav on the bench if he is not wanted give some other player a chance where is Dosantos Harry said it was a shame he got injured well where is he waiting to go on loan for your pet project Pompy sell your house Harry and move and you wont feel so guilty driving round Portsmouth. We have failed three times at Home when we could have bean way ahead of the chasing pack on 46 points count the Eveton penalty 48 points given away thats a staggering ten points above City and Villa and 14 above Liverpool. The sad facts is we have a strong Squad under used.
Granted Harry knows more about the game than I ever will, but like you pointed out rumourman if he is not overly in favour of Pav or Bentley why not bring back from loan the likes of Ryan Mason or Andros Townsend and give them a chance?
Yes they may not have much experience yet,but they certainly will show more commitment to the cause, obviously Pav and Bentley are good players but they like ourselves know it’s time to move on to pastures anew.
Though if we have no serious offers for them this transfer window surely it makes sense to send them out on loan so they can improve their own form, plus they will then be in the shop window so to speak, hence we might get a decent amount for them in the summer.
we lack the motivation against the smaller teams, such as hull stoke and wolves
Don’t want to beat a dead horse on this one. Score could have easily been 6-0 and it would have been well deserved. Couple of worries that I have though. Modric is incredibly talented, but he costs us in width when played on the wing. He always gravitates towards the middle and Krank tends to do the same. This really hurts us as it forces the backs to push way forward. Bale and Corluka were the only width we had and it was all too infrequent. It’s very difficult to break down a side when you only use half of the width of the pitch. I’d much rather see us play 4-5-1 with Modric in the centre. Bentley should be the back-up for Lennon. Why glue him to the bench? Sell him or play him. Same goes for Pav. My second real concern is that our strikers just aren’t good enough. Strip out Wigan and Hull and Defoe has 6 goals in 17 matches. Not good enough for Keane so why is it good enough for Defoe? Heck, Kranjcar has the same stats and he’s a MF. Keane should not start. He’s now just good enough to be a sub. No sense playing Crouch if you’re not going to use the width. 4 goals in 21, just not good enough. Pav, poor Pav. He and Bentley only have themselves to blame, but they are both very talented and seem to want to play. Why have them on the bench if you’re not going to play them. Sell them on please and put everyone out of their misery. 3 points at Anfield and Hull will be a memory. Not distant, but a memory. COYS – result is a must on Wednesday.
It’s nothing to do with motivation. As an Arsenal supporting friend said to me…welcome to being a top club. This is what teams of that particular standard do against top teams. Ask Arse, ManU or Chelsea fans. They’ll tell you the same. The difference is they have a team experienced enough in those situations to break them down (sometimes through plain luck) and they also have managers experienced at making the types of changes needed. ‘Arry has NEVER managed a top club. He is used to being the plucky underdog. So setting up a team to face a 10 man wall is pretty foreign to him. He is learning; we didn’t lose this one after all! The chances we had Saturday could’ve been enough to win 2 games but between poor finishing and excellent keeping it didn’t happen. Liverpool will grant us the space on Weds. So long as the strikers are firing, we will do just fine. 1 goal conceded in 7 games. That’s something to enjoy!
